Pionierlager Klim Woroschilow

Pionierlager Klim Woroschilow was a summer holiday camp for East German children while the country still existed. They sang songs around campfires and generally had a good time.

The Ferienlager were supposed to help the kids forge a strong collective bond and prepare to be upstanding young citizens of the socialist state.

But the leisure activities were far more important than the political aspect. Many former East Germans only have happy memories of their days in Ferienlager.
